Liquor licenses
The Victorian Commission for Liquor and Gambling Regulation (VCGLR) has a maximum patron number for hotels and venues serving liquor. This is known as a liquor license.
To determine the maximum patron capacity, the commission will require either the building’s occupancy permit or a report from a registered Building Surveyor.
C & M Building surveyors offers this service by providing either a patron calculation being a 0.75 m2 per person for the area covered under the red line licensed area or if the building has no occupancy permit the inclusion of a separate patron calculation in accordance with deemed-to-satisfy provisions of the Building Code of Australia.
This calculation factors in exit width, floor area of habitable areas and number of toilets.
